Boaters in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, argue with the municipality about where to dock their vessels. There are concerns about boaters getting off their boats, bringing in dogs, and going too near to swimmers in the Lakefront Park area of the community. Some boaters, though, are still concerned about parking on the lakeside.
The Boating Experience at the Lakefront Park.
Recently, boaters and board members have been at war about the safest method to allow boats near Lakefront Park to be parked. Residents are particularly concerned about where they may store their boats if they wish to visit the downtown area, a park, or the beach.
Jeff Knutson, the Community President, stated that the village does not have to offer parking for boats near Lakefront Park since it is not required by law. They want to enhance boat parking to benefit downtown businesses from the village board’s and the parks and recreation department’s perspectives.
The swimming area is off-limits to boat parking. The adjoining public fishing pier likewise prohibits boaters from parking. Boats cannot be launched from the sand using trailers. 129 Park Ave. is the location of Laimon Family Lakeside Park, where you may launch your boat. At Laimon Family Lakeside Park, boaters may also rent boats or slips.
According to Knutson, Lakefront Park has four or five sites where boats may be parked outside the swimming area. When the ski team is not using the pier on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the public may also use it.
Five boat spots would be for private leasing and seven for public usage on a private developer’s pier. The town plans to spend $2,000 on buoys to identify the location better.
